The Day I Lost My Shadow

When the war breaks out, pharmacist Sana attempts to continue daily life in Damascus as normal despite power cuts, water rations and food shortages. In her attempt to secure a gas cannister she unintentionally embarks on an uncertain adventure, becoming cut off from her home and child together with three strangers. While she is trying to find her way home from the dangerous no man’s land, she discovers how the experience of war causes a change in some people that is barely visible: they lose their shadow.

Filmmaker Soudade Kaadan tells the magical-realistic story in a dynamic, handheld-style that betrays her background as a documentary filmmaker.
