David Vogel | Switzerland | 2019 | 99 min. | Swiss German, German, French spoken | English subtitles
The increase in the number of Islamic conversions in Switzerland and the controversial figure of Nicholas Blancho, chairman of the Islamic Central Council, make journalist David Vogel almost as uncomfortable as the polarising way these phenomena are treated in the media. Therefore he decides to find out more about it.
He comes into contact with Johan, Aïcha and the family of Mirjam and Franco Lo Manto and documents the role Islam plays in their lives over a period of time. His journalistic investigation also evokes personal memories of his own religious upbringing, and his reasons for taking distance from Judaism as a young adult.
