Years after they fled from Algeria to Canada with their grandmother, Eteocles, Polynice, Ismene and Antigone have grown into young adults who each have their own dreams for the future. When her oldest brother dies from a police bullet in a riot and then her youngest brother comes under threat of deportation, Antigone takes a radical decision. To save what is still left of her family, she will have to break the law.

Director and screenwriter Sophie Deraspe (The Amina Profile) transposes Sophocles’ classical tragedy to today’s Montreal, weaving into it a notorious incident from 2008, in which a young immigrant was killed. Antigone was voted Best Canadian Film at the Toronto Film Festival.
