At a time when tension between Muslims and Christians is rising, Cairo Exit tells the story of a love that won’t adhere to conventions. Tarek and Amal, a Muslim boy and a Christian girl, try to create a future for themselves together. He wants to go to Europe, but she wants to stay near her family. Besides the fact that their mixed relationship is not accepted in Egypt, they have other problems. Coming from a poor suburb in Cairo, they don’t seem to have the right connections to get a serious job. Despite the bleak perspectives, this film is full of love of life and hope.
